She said the industry had not done enough to explain the benefits of its investments. Meta has data centers in 23 states and plans five projects of at least one gigawatt each. Powell McCormick said successful local projects can include Meta paying for electricity, directing tax surpluses to teachers and first responders, and hiring locally.
