James Gates sued OpenAI and Sam Altman, alleging that ChatGPT helped his wife, Cheryl Gates, plan to poison him and that the company failed to stop her chats as her questions grew suspicious. Cheryl Gates was indicted in October on attempted first-degree murder and food contamination charges. The lawsuit says Cheryl initially framed her questions as self-protection, then asked about preparing and administering oleander, dosage, and detection. These are allegations in the suit.
