Artificial Analysis reports that Microsoft’s MAI-Image-2.7-Preview ranks #2 on AA-Image-Editing v2.1, close behind OpenAI’s GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst (max). In its testing, the model outperforms MAI-Image-2.6 across all 7 measured editing actions and ranks #1 on 4, with the largest gains in Composition & Framing (+57 Elo), Text or Symbol Edits (+49), and Scene & Style Edit (+48). MAI-Image-2.7-Preview is available today in MAI Playground for image editing only, with text to image stated to be coming soon.

Microsoft’s MAI-Image-2.7-Preview placed second on Artificial Analysis’s AA-Image-Editing v2.1 benchmark and is now available for image editing in MAI Playground, according to Artificial Analysis. It ranked close behind OpenAI’s GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst (max). Mustafa Suleyman shared the result, calling MAI-Image “the #2 image edit model in the world.” Artificial Analysis said the preview outperformed MAI-Image-2.6 across all seven measured editing actions and ranked first in four. Its largest gains over that version were in Composition & Framing (+57 Elo), Text or Symbol Edits (+49 Elo), and Scene & Style Edit (+48 Elo). MAI Playground access currently covers image editing only; text-to-image generation is described as coming soon.
