That's the finding of an analysis by David Konitzny , a GEO researcher at Berlin-based startup Peec AI.

What happened

OpenAI licensing partners’ content appears to reach ChatGPT through a dedicated pipeline, according to an analysis by Peec AI researcher David Konitzny. He identified 12 publishers with 43 domains whose content arrives as pre-generated summaries placed before regular web results, which arrive as raw text snippets. Across 1,000 ranked-list cases, summaries named 70 percent of entries in positions 1 through 3, compared with 23 percent in positions 7 through 10.

The story so far

OpenAI licensing partners’ content reaches ChatGPT as pre-generated summaries placed ahead of regular web results, according to an analysis by Peec AI researcher David Konitzny, who identified the pattern across 12 publishers and 43 domains. Regular web results, by comparison, arrive as raw text snippets. Across 1,000 ranked-list cases in the analysis, the summaries named 70 percent of entries in positions 1 through 3, compared with 23 percent of entries in positions 7 through 10. Konitzny’s findings suggest a dedicated pipeline for partner content and an association between inclusion in those summaries and higher placement in ChatGPT’s ranked lists.
