No. There is no official e/acc token or coin. e/acc — effective accelerationism — is a movement with no organization, treasury or membership, so there is nobody who could issue one. Tokens that use the name are meme tokens launched by people unconnected to the movement.
This site has no token either. This page explains where the coins come from and what to check before believing any claim that one is official. It is not investment advice.
Why the name gets borrowed
e/acc spreads as a meme — a suffix people put in their bio — and memes are what meme tokens are made of. The name became widely known in 2023, when Forbes identified the movement's best-known account and Marc Andreessen's Techno-Optimist Manifesto named e/acc figures among its patron saints. Nobody owns the term, so anyone can launch a coin with it in the ticker, and several people have.
Why there can be no official one
- No issuer. e/acc has no foundation, company, DAO or treasury. It started as a newsletter post by four pseudonymous accounts.
- No membership. Anyone can call themselves e/acc, so a team that does so is not speaking for the movement.
- The founders' company is not a crypto project. Guillaume Verdon (@BasedBeffJezos) founded Extropic, a startup building computing hardware. Citing him or Extropic does not make a token official.
What to check before trusting a coin that uses the name
- Who issued it — a named team you can verify, or an anonymous deployer?
- Who holds it — if a handful of wallets hold most of the supply, they can sell into everyone else.
- Who can change it — whether the contract can still mint new tokens, freeze transfers or change fees.
- Who endorses it — an endorsement is real only if it appears on the person's own verified account, not in a screenshot or a Telegram message.
- What it asks for — no legitimate project needs your seed phrase or private key.
This site has no token
e-acc.ai is a news and data site about AI: a daily feed of what shipped, the acceleration timeline, model API prices and the cost of intelligence. It has no token, no airdrop and no presale, and it never asks you to connect a wallet. Anything that says otherwise is not us.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official e/acc token or coin?
No. e/acc is a movement without an organization, treasury or membership, so there is nobody who could issue an official token. Coins that use the name are unaffiliated.
Does e-acc.ai have a token?
No. This site is an AI news site. It has no token, no airdrop and no presale, never asks you to connect a wallet, and never asks for a seed phrase or private key.
Is Extropic an e/acc crypto project?
No. Extropic, founded by Guillaume Verdon (@BasedBeffJezos), is a startup building computing hardware. A token that cites Verdon or Extropic is not made official by the mention.
Why do e/acc tokens exist at all?
Because the name is free to use. When e/acc became widely known in 2023, meme tokens followed, as they do for most popular internet phrases. Nobody can stop anyone from launching one.
