   ByteDance Seed Establishes a Dedicated Model Safety and Alignment Department

   ByteDance Seed announced an internal department called “Seed Model-Alignment&Preparedness,” led by Yan Lin and reporting to Seed head Wu Yonghui. The department will bring in the Responsible AI team and some Chat team members to strengthen work on model safety and alignment, including improving Agent Model safety and guarding against risks from frontier capabilities such as CBRN.

   ByteDance Seed Establishes a Separate Model Safety and Alignment Department

   ByteDance Seed announced in an internal email that it will establish the “Seed Model-Alignment&Preparedness” department, led by Yan Lin and reporting to Seed head Wu Yonghui. The original Responsible AI team and some Chat team members will move to the new department. Seed says it will work on model standards, safety evaluations, alignment training, safeguards, and risk monitoring, and collaborate publicly with external research institutions and third-party evaluators.
