Google introduces Biomarker Discovery Framework to identify candidate biomarkers from wearable-sensor data

An AI tool for prioritizing candidate biomarkers from wearable sensor data

What happened

Google has released Biomarker Discovery Framework, a multi-agent system that organizes candidate biomarker prioritization into an iterative, human-supervised research loop combining hypothesis generation, parallel statistical analysis, model training, adversarial validation, and literature reasoning. Across 9,279 participant observations in three cohorts, it identified 41 candidate digital biomarkers for mental health and 25 for metabolic health. One example: variability in sleep duration correlated with PHQ-8 severity (ρ = 0.252).
