Apple to Announce HomeView Smart Home Hub on Tuesday, Gurman Reports

What happened

Apple will announce a new smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Gurman describes it as a Siri-powered device with a display and an A18 chip for controlling other smart home devices, reportedly available in countertop and wall-mounted models. Apple will also unveil updated Apple TV and HomePod mini devices, and Gurman said earlier this week that Apple plans to announce an LG partnership for a smart lock, thermostat, and doorbell.

Apple has launched HomeView, a $299 smart home display with Siri AI and a 7-inch screen; preorders are open, with shipping set for November 13. The tabletop and wall-mounted versions cost the same. Launch availability covers the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and India. HomeView supports Apple Home, Matter, and Thread. In her first look, The Verge’s Jennifer Pattison Tuohy reported that Siri’s personal context features require facial recognition and an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone on the same network, while chained smart home commands are limited to specific device types. Tuohy observed demonstrations but had not tried the device herself.
