What happened
Anthropic raised the maximum request size for Claude API Messages and Token Counting from 32 MB to 128 MB, giving image-heavy computer-use sessions and large PDFs about 4x more room. Baoyu relays the announcement and explains that requests could previously exceed the size limit while leaving substantial context capacity unused. The post also reports a higher per-image dimension limit for requests containing more than 20 images, from 2000 to 3000 pixels, and notes that the 128 MB limit applies only to Anthropic’s own API.

Anthropic raised the maximum request size for Messages and Token Counting on its own Claude API from 32 MB to 128 MB, allowing four times as much data per request. Baoyu, relaying the announcement, said image-heavy computer-use sessions and large PDFs could previously hit the request size limit while leaving substantial context capacity unused. For requests containing more than 20 images, the per-image dimension limit also rose from 2000 to 3000 pixels. The 128 MB limit applies only to Anthropic’s own API. According to Baoyu, cloud-platform limits remain unchanged: 20 MB on Amazon Bedrock; 30 MB for Google-hosted Claude on Google Cloud; and 32 MB for Claude Platform on AWS, Anthropic-hosted Claude on Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry.
