What happened

Amazon describes a SageMaker AI pipeline that evaluates full product detail page snapshots by combining Vision-Language Model scores with OCR readability signals in a CatBoost classifier. On 5,478 pages across 10 product categories, the fused model reached 0.94 accuracy and a 0.95 F1 score, compared with 0.80 and 0.84 for the averaged-score baseline. SHAP explanations inform recommendations, and revised pages gained an average of 1.4 points on a 10-point quality scale.

Why it matters

The comparison shows how adding OCR readability features to VLM scores improved classification on 5,478 product pages, while SHAP-based recommendations were associated with higher post-revision quality scores.
