- Quote
In this post, we introduce the global cross-Region inference profiles and invoke them from Asia Pacific (Singapore) using the Converse API, the OpenAI-compatible APIs, and coding clients.
What happened
AWS explains how to invoke OpenAI GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna through Amazon Bedrock global cross-Region inference from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Taiwan, and GPT-6 Astra from Singapore. The guide covers Converse, OpenAI-compatible APIs, coding clients, IAM permissions, SCP exceptions, quotas, and monitoring. Billing and quota tracking remain in the source Region, while requests run in supported destination Regions; each output token consumes 10 tokens of quota.
Why it matters
The guide provides a transferable approach to configuring cross-Region inference permissions by scoping SCP exceptions to inference profiles while preserving Region controls for other services.
The story so far
AWS published a guide explaining how customers can invoke OpenAI GPT-6 models through Amazon Bedrock’s global cross-Region inference: GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Taiwan, and GPT-6 Astra from Singapore. The guide covers access through the Converse API, OpenAI-compatible APIs, and coding clients. Requests run in supported destination Regions, while billing and quota tracking remain in the source Region. Each output token consumes 10 tokens of quota. AWS also explains the IAM permissions, service control policy exceptions, quotas, and monitoring needed to configure access. AWS says eligible customers may request full zero data retention through their AWS account team.
