The story so far
Perplexity has open-sourced SPACE, the sandbox platform it says runs every task in Perplexity Computer, making it available on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license. The company said SPACE gives each agent task its own Firecracker microVM and controls credentials and outbound traffic from outside that VM. Perplexity said SPACE uses cryptographic identity to keep requests tied to the correct execution as sandboxes pause, resume, and move. The company reported that the platform handles millions of executions a day with an error rate below 0.0002%. Aravind Srinivas said SPACE serves Perplexity’s daily traffic and uses multiple machines to lower serving costs.
