The story so far
Anthropic has opened Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent app, as a research preview with access starting through a waitlist. The Verge reports that the preview requires a Pro or Max subscription in the US and is available through standalone iOS and Android apps and Claude on the web. Baoyu reports that eligible US subscribers can try it at no additional charge. Anthropic says Duet brings matters needing attention to users, completes requested tasks, continues working while they are away, and checks with them before acting on their behalf. The Verge describes the agent as built around Claude Opus 5.5 for professionals and small business owners, monitoring connected apps, sending briefings, and requesting approval before major actions. Mike Krieger said he had used Duet for several weeks at work and at home to draft fireside chat questions, monitor Slack over a weekend, and order a book from his local bookstore after he asked.
