What happened
Anthropic introduced a new system prompt meant to stop Claude models from re-creating specific existing video games, though it is unlikely to slow the broader wave of AI-assisted game porting and copying. The rule, found in a json file named "tengu_heron_brook," tells Claude to build original games but not recreate a specific existing game even if renamed. XDA verified it in Claude Code version 2.1.314, released October 30.

The story so far
Anthropic added two sentences to Claude Code’s system prompt on Opus 5.5 to steer it away from recreating a specific existing game, even if the game is renamed or called original. XDA verified the rule in Claude Code version 2.1.314, released October 30. Anthropic’s Addy Osmani said the restriction reflects the company’s policy against using Claude to infringe intellectual property. Osmani said original games, games in a genre, and games made from users’ own designs and assets are meant to remain supported.
