The story so far
Cursor announced that it has joined The X Subscription, bringing it into a bundle with Grok and X Premium while allowing existing Cursor subscribers to keep their current plans or switch. Cursor said paid plans share one usage pool across Cursor, Grok Build, and other Grok products and provide twice the coding usage on Grok models as the equivalent Cursor plan. On the new plans, third-party models in Cursor move to API pricing. Baoyu explained that these plans include no third-party model allowance, so that usage is billed separately from the monthly fee, with users able to set spending caps; the cheapest paid tier, Plus, supports only Grok models. Existing Cursor plans include some third-party usage, making the billing change relevant to subscribers who code with Claude, GPT, or Gemini. TechCrunch reported five tiers: free, Plus at $8 per month, Premium at $30, Super at $100, and Ultra at $200, with higher AI usage caps at higher tiers. The free tier provides limited chat and agent usage, and the latest Grok models require Premium or above. Cursor said Premium, Super, and Ultra also include Grok Bot. TechCrunch reported that the option to switch through X subscription settings is rolling out gradually.
